Project Description
The Winters Building Restoration and Renovation campaign is part of the City of Richmond’s municipal restoration effort of the city’s historically designated “Main Street District.” The restored Winters Building will serve as an anchor resource for other revitalization projects in the area and serve as leverage for $200 million of presently slated redevelopment projects in the neighborhood.
Restoration and modernization will honor the historical significance of the 1924 building and finally make the facility safe and ADA compliant for our community ensuring full public access and programmatically useful for our community’s students, children and families.
This capital project addresses and resolves critical seismic, fire, and life safety concerns and at the same time realizes the goal of bringing thousands more under-achieving school children to the Center annually.
The design and construction team of Mark Cavagnero and Associates, Architects and Oliver and Company, General Contractors will oversee the restoration of the Winters Building.
