50th Anniversary Kick-Off Celebration

On May 12, 2018, Downtown Richmond came alive as East Bay Center kicked off its 50 th year in the city with over 80 Bay Area artists performing all evening on multiple stages for a crowd of over 600 guests.

The energy was palpable to those standing in line to enter the Center’s historic Winters Building, every corner of which boasted an all-star lineup of performers lending their own unique vibe and energy to the party.

Outside, guests enjoyed food from local vendors ranging from Moroccan cuisine to American barbecue, while the fresh beats from DJ K La V had others warming up the cool night air with impromptu dance parties.

Inside the Center, the dancing continued on the first floor with live salsa music, West African drumming, hip hop crews, and capoeira/samba performances. The upstairs lounge offered a more mellow – yet equally enticing – energy, featuring jazz, classical, and spoken word performances. Last, but not least, the lineup in the main Iron Triangle Theater delighted with performances ranging from aerial circus arts and modern dance to soul music and jazz ensembles.

Along with the amazing artistry on display, the night was made truly special by each and every one of our friends, family members, community partners, and volunteers who came out to party with us and lend their support. We are truly grateful to have spent the last 50 years growing with you, and we are excited to begin a new phase of our journey with you by our side. Here’s to 50 more years!
