Everyone agrees that Betty Reid Soskin (former East Bay Center board member) is a national treasure! Now all of us can enjoy her life story with the publication of her autobiography, Sign My Name To Freedom, released by Hay House Publishers in early February. From early years in Black Creole New Orleans to growing up in East Oakland to working for the shipyards of Richmond to being the oldest active National Park Service ranger at Richmond’s Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park, this amazing 96-year-old certainly has stories to share.

Geoffrey’s Inner Circle (410 – 14th Street, Oakland – near the 12th Street BART) is hosting her book release party on Wednesday, February 21 from 6:00-8:00pm and everyone is welcome. Members of East Bay Center’s Iron Triangle Theater Ensemble will provide dramatic readings from Sign My Name To Freedom. Refreshments will be served.
