Richmond Second Line Procession

Date: Saturday, July 21, 2018
Time: 10:00AM-3:00PM
Location: Starts at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 321 Alamo Ave, Richmond

DESCRIPTION:

Join the movement on Saturday, July 21st as Ceasefire Richmond takes to the streets in a New Orleans-style Second Line Procession led by the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts Jazz Band! The procession will begin at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in North Richmond, stopping at several historic churches throughout the Iron Triangle, and end at Providence Baptist Church in South Richmond. With original music composed by East Bay Center alum and Jazz Faculty Chair Howard Wiley, we invite you to walk in honor of the memory of those lives lost to gun violence, as we sing, chant, groove, and “raise a joyful noise” through the streets of Richmond in hope and affirmation of a brighter future. You can join the procession from the beginning or anywhere you like along the route. See the map below for the procession route.
