Juneteenth Parade & Festival

On Saturday, June 16th, 2018, at the Richmond Juneteenth Parade and Family Festival, East Bay students enrolled in the West Contra Costa County Unified School District (WCCUSD) Mafanikio Program will showcase African, Brazilian, and Black-American dance pieces as the headlining act on the Juneteenth Youth Stage. Taking place at the historic Nicholl Park, this performance will build on the premise of the Mafanikio Program (‘Achievement’ in Swahili) to not only support Richmond’s African-American youth academically, but to also empower them with knowledge of their cultural heritage through engaging, community-centered activities.
