Join East Bay Center at Richmond's Juneteenth parade and festival!
East Bay students enrolled in the West Contra Costa County Unified School District (WCCUSD) Mafanikio Program will showcase African, Brazilian, and Black-American dance pieces as the headlining act on the Juneteenth Youth Stage. Taking place at the historic Nicholl Park, this performance will build on the premise of the Mafanikio Program (‘Achievement’ in Swahili) to not only support Richmond’s African-American youth academically, but to also empower them with knowledge of their cultural heritage through engaging, community-centered activities.
R.O.O.T.S. the Movement, a dance crew made up of three East Bay Center Alumni, will be performing a set on the Main Stage.
The Family Festival will be located at Nicholl Park, from 11:00am to 6:00pm with entertainment, food, contests, children's activities, and fun. This event is sponsored by the National Brotherhood Alliance and the City of Richmond.
